International GO SKATE day event at AL TOWN is cancelled

We'll be celebrating at Hornlake and Houston Levee skate parks.

Skate contest tomorrow June 18th at 7pm-see below for details

FaithSkate is having their 2nd annual skate contest tomorrow!

The 2nd annual King of Kings Skate Contest & Festival will be held at The Grove at Red Oak Lake (849 Rocky Point Road)in Cordova this year.  On Friday night June 18th, we will host our annual skate contest.  But that’s not all....skaters are also asked to stay for an overnight retreat.  The Grove has undergone a serious makeover and we think this is only the beginning for future skate camps.  Here’s what you can expect:

  • Skate Contest at 7pm on Friday -  Retreat ends at 2pm on Saturday
  • Late night skate session (under the lights)
  • Bonfire by the lake (bring your guitar)
  • Epic swimming contest (I challenge anyone to a race)
  • Canoe race
  • Late night skate videos
  • Parents: Camp/FaithSkate staff will provide constant supervision

The cost was $50 but some generous people have stepped forward making the cost only $25.  That will include lodging and 3 meals.  Some scholarships are available so don’t let the money stop you from attending.

Please fill out the form below and either mail or bring a check to FaithSkate (make sure you note that it’s for the retreat and the name of the attendee) or make a $25 contribution via PayPal by clicking here.

Greenlaw Celebration!!

The halfpipe is done! We celebrated yesterday our grand-opening of the ramp. A big thanks to everyone for helping make this happen. Especially the Skatelife volunteer construction crew that built the ramp which included: Sam Connell, Kris Gurley, Mark Jannetta, Drew, Mike Lasiter, Jon Hedge, Mark Nagle, Thurman Richardson, Bo Graham, Shannon Cable, Tucker Davis and all the Greenlaw kids that helped to build this. You all put in around 200 hours to build it!
Thanks Bellvue Baptist for hosting the event and for spending the whole day cleaning up and fixing up the community center. Bellvue loves Memphis! Nice work Scott!

A special thanks to Detric and April Golden for being supportive of the ramp build. Thank you !

Finally, we are indebted to Memphis Athletic Ministries for being willing to give skateboarding a trial run as a program for their organization. We hope to make you proud that! You now host the only community center in Memphis that has its own halfpipe and skateboarding program!

Help us build a Christmas skate-ramp for N. Memphis kids

We are starting to collect ramp building materials for building the skate ramps at the Greenlaw community center. The Nike Grant will pay for about 2/3 of the materials but we still need some more materials purchased. You can purchase the materials at Lowes or Home Depot and drop them off at the community center which is located at 190 Mill Avenue Monday -Friday between the hours of 12-7pm. If you don't have time you can also donate via the paypal button below and we'll pick up the materials.

We will update the materials list with donor names and materials purchased daily so that you know what materials still need to be purchased. Thanks for helping!

Skatelife Memphis wins the Nike Grant!

Skatelife Memphis applied for a $2500 Nike community grant in August. Today we received notification that we have won the grant!!! So, let's celebrate and build some ramps! More details to follow on when we will start building. If you have always wondered how to build a half-pipe then be sure to come and help out!

Thanks everyone for your support at the public meetings!
